Ian Hewett, Class of 2013
Growing up in Hudsonville, I have had the pleasure of being a part of the Hudsonville Aquatics program. I have been fortunate enough to play with two great coaches, with the commitment of building a top tier program. The Hudsonville Aquatics program has had a huge impact on my life both in and out of the pool. It has taught me: time management, how to be a leader, discipline, a strong work ethic, and perseverance. All of these qualities have helped make me into the man I am today. One of the most important impacts that the Hudsonville Aquatics has had on my life is the friendships I have built throughout the years. I have made a second family here, whom I can rely on at any time.
During the years of my involvement in Hudsonville Athletics I have witnessed first hand the positive growth and development of the aquatics program. I feel very honored to be a part of this experience at Hudsonville High School. It has given my great pride in my school and myself. Although there were some negatives such as waking up at 5 a.m., and jumping into a freezing pool, I think it has all been worth it. The coaches dedication made me feel the time was spent wisely. They became more than just athletic mentors, they got to know me as an individual, which gave me the confidence to excel. All of these experiences will be beneficial as I move onto collegiate athletics. I am very thankful to be a part of such a caring and supportive staff.
